Why Blogging Should Be Part of Your Marketing Strategy

April 22, 2021

Is a blog the best way to get traffic to your website in 2021? We’ve spent untold time discussing the best digital strategies for marketing in 2021 and beyond, and that time has mostly centered around videos, social media posts, and new story features on the most popular platforms. But, the truth is that our clients request weekly, and often bi-weekly, blogs because there are incredible benefits to having a current blog on your website.

Gone are the days of Xanga and Tumblr, but website blogs are alive and well. When is the last time you found a recipe online that wasn’t part of a blog? How often do you click on links to information you’re seeking and find that it’s presented in the form of a blog? I mean… you’re reading these words right now, and they’re in a blog.

Let’s take a look at just a few of the reasons why blogging is the way to go to increase your website traffic, flex your expertise, and create consistency in your brand and social media interactions.

Blogging is a Great Source for SEO Authority

It seems like every digital marketing course or conference stresses the importance of SEO (search engine optimization), and your attorneys or other non-marketing colleagues have probably come to you to ask if you’re “using SEO.” Using SEO? Those folks might not understand what SEO is and how it works, but you do, and you know just how important it is to drive traffic to your page.

Blogs are excellent sources of content marketing and great for SEO (search engine optimization). As we all know, Google loves a well-optimized blog post, and using the right keywords in your blog can help you appear in that ever-coveted top spot when someone searches for your product or service.

Once your audience is on your page, reading your blog increases the amount of time they’re spending on your page, which, you guessed it… increases your visibility in those online searches. If you’re not using blogs to build traction and visibility through SEO, you’re missing out on an incredible opportunity that costs little to nothing.

Blogging Builds Credibility

We all know that old adage, “if you’ve got it, flaunt it,” and it applies to your professional acumen. Blogging allows you to position yourself as an industry expert on relevant topics for which your prospective clients are searching. You know what’s important. You know what your audience needs to hear. So, give it to them, and build authenticity and credibility when you do it through blogging.

Building a strong reputation of subject matter authority and authentic voice will continue to drive traffic to your website and create repeat visitors in your audience.

Blogging Gives You Ready-to-Share Material

If you’ve spent any time at all tuning in to what we have to say about digital marketing strategies, you already know the next point here: consistency is key.

Consistently sharing content on your social media pages builds stronger connections and trust from your audience, but always having something to regularly posts can be burdensome. Sharing your past and recent blogs is just built-in content that already encapsulates your business, and it’s ready to go! Too frequently, the excitement around a new marketing initiative fizzles out before it’s built an audience and truly gotten momentum. The truth is blogging takes work, but it works for you in return. Stay consistent in your branding and messaging through the use of blogs.

Your audience won’t show up in droves overnight, but if Kevin Costner taught us anything, it’s that “if you build it, he will come.” So, blog on, my friend, and don’t forget to share!
