March is a month for women, with several national and international days of celebration and awareness that highlight the plight, strength, and impact of women. As a woman-owned business and team of marketers who support women, By Aries is quite passionate about the progress of women and the mark they’ve made in history.
Congress first declared March as Women’s History month in 1987, and an annual Presidential Proclamation aims to remind US citizens and the world of what every woman knows:
WOMEN ARE INCREDIBLE, RESILIENT, AND OTHERWORLDLY.
While we could ceaselessly discuss the rich and unrivaled power of notable women in history, global events and this year’s Women’s History Month theme, “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,” shift our focus to the women we know personally—our mothers, our grandmothers, our sisters, our aunts, and the amazing women we call friends—sparking renewed awareness and gratitude for who women are and what they do every single day.
Why We Celebrate National Women’s History Month
We are over two years into a lifechanging, global pandemic that has stretched the bounds of every industry and family, and women comprise the vast core of our support system. From the force of frontline healthcare workers mostly made up of women providers, educators who created a safe environment to learn in a chaotic time, the moms and grandmothers who were expected to set aside their careers and ambitions to care for the next generation of society, to our aunts, sisters, and cousins who offered support in the most trying times, we owe a debt of gratitude for the unnumbered ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout this dismal time.
Whilst continuing to battle the effects of this devastating virus, we still see women continue to rise to atrocious occasions. The coverage in Ukraine is horrifying, yet we continue to see glimpses of hope and efforts to heal by the mothers, grandmothers, and teachers fighting to maintain some semblance of normalcy in the midst of hell on earth. We invite you to not only look to the rich tapestry of history created by women in the past, but reflect on the history being created before our very eyes and the incredible women who are doing their damndest to provide healing and hope to an aching world.
